Ikebana Flower Holders

For full listing, please contact us for a digital catalogue.

Ikebana is a Japanese art form with several styles and a tradition going back many centuries. Our pewter flower  holders are suitable for one of the more popular styles, the "shoka".

The shoka container has a small opening with a pin frog (kenzan) hidden in the well. The kenzan supports the arrangement. The traditional shoka style is a triangular arrangement consisting of three main stems. Traditionally, all three stems must appear to come from a single point, no part of the display should touch any part of the container and all foliage should be removed within five centimetres of the surface of the container. There are many excellent books describing how to prepare and arrange cut flowers, dried flowers, grasses etc. to give you a long-lasting, beautiful display.
